St. Mary’s is aiming to be a sustainable school because we need to look after the Earth. We are learning heaps, about waste and the impact that it has to the planet, with our organic waste we put it in the garden and the compost. We also give the scraps to the chickens. Our paper is only thrown out if it has had a couple of uses and still gets recycled. There is a scrap paper tub in every classroom. It is very useful, as one man’s trash is another man’s treasure! That means when someone thinks that something is trash, someone may have a use for it.
